Milltown is a tiny hamlet in a
sheltered valley deep in the countryside two miles south of Lostwithiel and
within four hundred yards of the River Fowey. Fowey and the nearest beaches are
only a ten minute drive away. Merlin is a delightful detached cottage built of
stone and cob and believed to be 500 years old. In bygone years the cottage was
reputedly a "kiddlywink" - a place where you could buy beer and cider
from the owners and drink it outside, but not inside like a pub.
There is a cosy sitting room with open beamed
ceiling and visitors may enjoy log fires in the original fireplace. The kitchen
is well equipped. It has a microwave, an electric cooker and
fridge. A washing machine is provided in the utility room.
There is one bathroom and three bedrooms, one with a double bed, one
with two singles and the third with a single bed. The bathroom has a shower over
the bath. Bed linen will be supplied, a
colour television and DVD player are provided. Night storage heaters and
the open fire provide heating. Electricity and logs are included in the price. A cot and highchair are available if required. There
is a pleasant garden and a paved terrace.
Adjoining Merlin, there is a large
stone built store which has ample space to keep canoes, mountain bikes or a
trailer. There is also parking space for two small cars or one large one. A well behaved dog may be
accepted by prior arrangement. The nearest shops and pubs are in Lostwithiel
some 2 miles away. |
